Missionary Update June 2003 Newsletter
Dear Friends,
Greetings from the beautiful Northwest. We have been back home in the States since early May. What great times we've already had with family and friends! How blessed we feel to have this time to renew our strength and to also be so richly fed in the Word and so cared for by our loving church families right next door and across town. And now we're looking forward to seeing many of you as we start our travels in August.
Our last weeks and days in Brazil were filled to the brim with packing, mission business, sorting, and finishing Stranger studies. Praise the Lord for His mercy and grace and all He did there. The day we left Barra, Jim finished a study with a couple down the road and they both placed their faith in Jesus as their Savior. The man had come to our house about 6 weeks before in a drunken state, begging for spiritual help. Praise the Lord for His wonderful salvation! What a tremendous ending to our term there! Nilton, the first believer who went through The Stranger study with us, is now shepherding this couple. God is so good and faithful! The day before we left, precious friends gave us a going away party. We felt so loved. This was the first time we found it hard to leave Brazil. God has done so much and we thank Him over and over for the new direction and ministry and fruit and joy.
We were blessed to be able to celebrate Mom and Dad's 50th anniversary with them in May down in California. What a treat to be home for that. Now we're all looking forward to 2 special family reunions coming up in July.
The 4th revision of the final copy of the Portuguese version of The Stranger on the Road to Emmaus has been completed. We are eagerly praying that it will soon be ready for printing.
Danny is taking driver's education and doing very well. He will be going to Eddyville, Oregon, with the youth group next week to teach Vacation Bible School. When he returns he'll have a job waiting for him! The Lord is so faithful.
Holly finished her 6th grade year and is thoroughly enjoying summer vacation. Her favorite pastime is reading, and she's taking full advantage of the public library a few blocks from
