The congregation of Grace Bible Church has a new pastor. Pastor Charlie Hornick's first Sunday as Pastor of Grace Bible Church was Easter Sunday.

He was born in Elkins, WV, the son of a West Virginia coal miner. He trusted Christ as his Savior at the age of nine. In 1967, at the age of fourteen, he sensed the call of God for the ministry on his life. From then on, he pursued ministry as his life goal.

He graduated from Piedmont Bible College in Winston-Salem, NC with a Bachelor of Theology Degree and later attended Denver Baptist Theological Seminary.

He has been in the pastoral ministry for the past twenty-seven years serving churches in South Charleston, WV, Golden, CO, and Gering, NE. He was Youth Pastor for three years before becoming a Senior Pastor. He also enjoyed teaching Homiletics and other courses at Frontier School of the Bible in LaGrange, WY.

Pastor Charlie has been active in evangelism, missions, and community activities. In evangelism he has been active in speaking at youth camps, conferences, prison ministries, rescue missions, health care facilities, and on the radio. He has had the privilege of assisting in the establishment of churches in West Virginia and Colorado and served on two Home Missions Boards.

In missions, he has ministered in the Netherlands Antilles, Canada, Hungary, Romania, and on Indian reservations in the US. He is presently on the Board of Tentmakers Bible Mission based in Frisco, CO.

Several have trusted Christ as their Savior under his ministry and over thirty have committed themselves to full time Christian service. He has been active in the communities in which he has ministered.

He served on the Jefferson County Colorado DA's Council for Domestic Violence for a number of years and served on the Family Crisis Intervention Council in Scottsbluff, NE. He also has written articles for local newspapers and magazines on issues that pertain to the spiritual and moral issues affecting families, communities and nation.

He was awarded the honor of "2001 Nebraska Pastor of the Year" by the Nebraska Family Council. Nebraska Governor Mike Johanns presented him with an Admiralship in the Nebraska Navy, an honor given to citizens who have made a significant impact in their communities.

He and his wife, Susan, have been married for twenty-eight years. They have two children and are the proud grandparents of their granddaughter, Sonora, age 10. They have an adopted son in the ministry who is serving full time as a missionary to Camp Id-Ra-Ha-Je.

Pastor Charlie's wife, Sue, grew up in Illinois and Kansas and enjoys being a pastor's wife, singing, writing, and riding horses. She has received regional and national awards for her writing in historical and inspirational categories.

Charlie and Sue have also witnessed the faithfulness of God despite some difficult trials in their lives. They testify of how God could work everything together for good in situations such as a house fire and Sue's battle with a desmoids tumor.

They are very grateful to be back in Colorado having ministered in Golden, CO from 1984 to 1997. They are excited about ministering to such a loving group of people as those at Grace Bible Church.

"But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumphal procession in Christ and through us spreads everywhere the fragrance of the knowledge of him." II Corinthians 2:14
