Missionary Update August 2003 News Report
A year ago this summer, we were seeking to purchase a building in Collbran, CO for the Grace Bible Church. We made a request from our supporters to help in securing the down payment of $37,500.00. Many of you responded and nearly $10,000 was given the church to help with the down payment.
Then we hit a pothole in the road when it could not be decided who had the right to sell the building. Since the ownership was in question, the IOOF agreed to lease the building for one year, July 2002 to June 2003 with the lease money, minus building expenses, to be applied to the purchase price of the building when the ownership question was answered.
Then in April, we were informed that the local lodge had been authorized to sell the building for the price of $125,000.00. But then another pothole appeared when Pastor Agee and family had to move to a lower altitude due to their daughter's heart condition.
Due to the late declaration from the IOOF about their right to sell the building and the leaving of Pastor Agee, we asked the local Plateau Valley Lodge for an extension of three months while we raised the $37,500 needed for the down payment.
Based on the amount deducted from the selling price via rent payments, the amount given by the church, and the amount given by the Mission's supporters, we were still $12,500.00 short of the amount required by the lenders for a down payment.
Then the Lord supplied the remaining $100,000.00! A personal loan, to be paid back over the next 20 years or sooner was made available from a friend. The Mission will make the purchase, September 15, 2003, holding the property and building in trust until the church graduates from the Mission, at which time the church will assume the loan or make different arrangements. Pray about this transaction and a new pastor.
