Dear Friends,

Greetings to you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ! As we prepare to celebrate our son’s sixth birthday this week (May 11), we are reminded that we have been faithfully SERVING the Lord here at South Routt Bible Church for 6 1/2 years. The Lord has been so faithful to us, our family and our church. We thought we’d just highlight some of the ways that we have been SERVING the Lord in the past six months:

SERVING IN AWANA - Every Wednesday, I (Tom) served as the AWANA commander and Kim served as the Sparks Director. We, also, worked side-by-side preparing a meal for our AWANA workers and their families (about 25 people).  Approximately 40 kids attended club each week. The Lord brought us a wonderful committed couple from Georgia (living in Steamboat Springs for 1 year) to work with us. They invited several families from their church in Steamboat to come to AWANA, too. (In fact, now that church is planning to start their own AWANA Club in the Fall of 2003.) We enjoyed the sweet fellowship with ALL the helpers SERVING the Lord together.

SERVING THE COMMUNITY - In a desire to SERVE and reach our community for Christ, we put on an Easter evangelistic play written by one of the members of our church entitled, “From the Cradle to the Cross”. Many months went into practicing the music (directed by Kim) and the drama (directed by two members of our church). We performed the cantata-like program on Palm Sunday evening at the local Middle School Auditorium to a packed out crowd. We are praying for far reaching effects.

SERVING ANOTHER CONGREGATION - On Easter Sunday we had the opportunity to SERVE and minister to another church congregation. The First Baptist Church family joined us for our breakfast and worship service because their pastor was in the hospital following Triple By-pass Heart Surgery. It was a wonderful time of worshipping together.

SERVING THE PUBLIC SCHOOL - Again this year I (Tom) will have the opportunity to speak at the High School’s Baccelaureate Service on May 25. Please pray for God’s Word to speak to hearts. Our children, also, have been busy serving the Lord at school. Kayla is just finishing up her 3rd grade year and Konnor is just finishing up kindergarten. Both did well in school and worked hard to invite their unsaved friends to AWANA and church. What a thrill when their friends did come!

SERVING WOMEN - On May 18, our church will be hosting an event called, “The Ladies’ of the Valley Spring Tea”. Pray for Kim as she leads this event. Kim has, also, been busy leading a ladies’ Bible study through the book of Philippians with the ladies of our church.

SERVING CHILDREN - Now that AWANA is finished for the year, we are busy preparing for our upcoming Rodeo Bible Camp which will take place on June 26-29 for children in 3rd - 8th grades. Please pray for God to work in these children’s hearts.

SERVING ONE ANOTHER - We praise the Lord for our church family. They have such a sweet spirit that permeates everything they do. They have truly been a blessing to us over the past six years. And we praise the Lord for YOU who have served us faithfully through your prayers and financial support. God has truly blessed us through YOU.

Serving Christ Together,

Tom & Kim Harves

P.S. Many of you have asked us about our “Housing Situation”. We have not yet been able to find a house or a piece of property within our price range in this expensive resort area. Please continue to pray!!! We continue to remain content in our tiny 800 sq. ft. rental home but hopeful that God will supply a larger place if He so chooses. Thank you for asking and for being so concerned about our family’s needs.
