Missionary Update Summer 2003 Newsletter
Dear Family and Friends,
We made it! We graduated from New Tribes Mission Institute! We are very excited to be one step closer to arriving on the mission field.
JUNGLE CAMP
We
had a great three weeks in the wilderness.
We spent four days building our house. We covered a pole barn style
house with thick plastic. Jasson really enjoyed putting in the plumbing
and electrical. I helped Jasson build furniture and shelves. I
learned a lot about building. Our house was incredibly comfortable.
We could have stayed longer than three weeks. Our days were quite full
with just living. Everything such as cooking and laundry took longer to
do.
INTERNSHIP
We are doing a six week internship at Grace Bible Church in Parachute, Colorado. We are living at Charlie and Sue Hornick's (pastor) house. We are very thankful for their hospitality. The church is keeping us busy working with the youth, VBS, counseling at Twin Peaks Bible Camp, preaching, and teaching Sunday school. This has been a great opportunity about being in ministry, and we have developed a closer relationship with the church.
LANGUAGE SCHOOL
About the second week in August, we are going to be moving to Camdenton, Missouri to attend New Tribes Language Institute. We will be there until May of 2004. This is the final step in training with New Tribes Mission. There they do not teach us a language, because we will be going to an unknown language group. Rather they teach us how to learn a language - how to hear and write down sounds that are unknown in the English language. We are very excited!
PRAISE:
1. We have finished a step in the training.
2. We found a place to live this summer.
PRAYER REQUESTS
1. Safe move to Missouri.
2. God will prepare the hearts of the people that we will one day be ministering to.
