Missionary Update March 2005 Newsletter
Dear family and friends,
Merry Christmas!!! We trust this letter finds you well this holiday season. It is so good to be around family and friends this Christmas. It is hard to believe this could be our last Christmas with family for a while.
Solar Power
Imagine living in a place with no e
lectricity, no lights to see at night when eating dinner, no computer to do your work, no refrigerator to keep your Pepsi cold, and worst of all no curling irons. This is just one of the many problems that a tribal missionary faces. I have been putting together a solar system that will be able to give us electricity in the tribe. Praise the Lord that the system is nearly complete. We have seen the Lord work mightily in this very expensive project. One of the blessings that we have received is a battery
company hearing of our need and donating batteries to the project, a value of over $1700. We praise the Lord for His faithfulness.
"God's Talk"
We have seen the Lord preparing the way for us in so many areas, like with our solar system. But even more exciting is seeing how the Lord is beginning to open up doors into different tribal areas. The chairman of the Island’s Region in Papua New Guinea wrote this to me about an encounter with a tribal fellow. “A fellow named Stanley from the Nalik tribe came to me when I was visiting Tigak last time and said he really wanted someone to come to his village and teach them God's Word and translate it into their language. He said they even have ground picked out and cleared where the missionaries could build their houses.”
This man is just one of many who are eternally lost. He has no chance of hearing the name of Christ. There is not one verse of Scripture written in his language. There are over 3,000 language groups that do not have the Bible in their language. The only way that these people and many others can be delivered from the power of darkness is if missionaries like us go to them and teach them “God’s Talk”. Many tribes are begging missionaries to come and teach them “God’s Talk” because they do not want to go to the place “where the fire burns”. Would you go? If not, we are asking you to prayerfully consider being a part of sending us to an unreached tribe like the Nalik. Our goal is to leave for Papua New Guinea this summer. We do not want to wait any longer, because as each day passes another tribal person enters an eternity without Christ.
"On the Road, Again..."
We have spoken at over 20 different churches and visited with friends and family from Michigan to Oregon. And we are still traveling. We are scheduled to speak at three more churches in Colorado and hopefully one in Utah. We are currently at 35% of our needed monthly support of $5,000. There is a great deal of paperwork that needs to be completed before leaving for the field. We have a good start on our work permits and visa, but there is still more to be done.
We’d like to say a special thanks to all of you who have played a part in the Lord’s ministry. We have been overwhelmed as we see not only your faithfulness, but your sacrifice on His behalf. Together we can impact eternity!
