June 15, 2005 - Changed Lives
This missions trip has been everything except what I expected. I thought I would be mostly working with children and have lots of times to talk with people about my faith. I knew Satan would try to test my faith, but I had no idea how hard he would work at it; I had no idea how much my faith would grow. I hope that people have seen God when they saw me working. This trip has been a bunch of hard work. I've mostly helped with the building of Pastor Vuyo's home.
Yesterday, Traci, Jesse, Curtis, and J.J. stayed at our residence because of colds or injuries. The rest of our group went to the work site. We worked all morning on the house then took a break to eat lunch. While we (Donna, Val, Matt, John, Kwacha, and I) ate lunch, Jeff went back to the house to pick up Traci and Curtis and bring them to the work site. We worked at the work site till about 5:30 then came back to the house and got cleaned up. I fell asleep before dinner.
God has taught me how to be patient with the people I'm working with. There have been times I wanted to do something else than what I was told and God has really helped me do the things I don't want to do.
I think this trip could easily be called a life changing experience. I came hoping to teach people about the God who changed my life, but mostly I've been taught by people, experiences, and mostly God, but when I think about it this is probably just the beginning of many life changing missions trips.
