June 17, 2004 - On the Downhill Slide
After a very intense day of ministry yesterday, today was designed to let us relax and unwind. We took our time eating breakfast and getting out of the beach house to head up to the Ranch. It gave us a great feeling of satisfaction to go up and see the foundation all finished that we sweated over on Monday.
Carlos asked us to help clear the area of brush and construction clutter and while we were doing that we found a rattlesnake. It was a big attraction and Carols was laughing at us . . . "How many Americans does it take to kill a snake?" Matt finally shoveled its head off and we got to eat him with our dinner. :) Some of us had never tried snake before, so that was pretty cool.
Then we headed down to the chapel and spent some time singing together and listening to testimonies. The people here love to sing and it has been such a blessing to be here and see the heart they have for the Lord.
We shared dinner with the people at the Ranch - (besides for rattlesnake) we had chicken in a chocolate sauce with rice and chili. Yum! After that it was off to play football (soccer) with the Ranch guys. It became obvious early on that they play this game and we - well, don't. :s The score was 6-1 and a couple of us ended up sacrificing our bodies for the cause, but it was a really good time.
It's hard to believe that tomorrow we're going to have to leave Mexico. The time here has gone so fast and before we know it, we will be home again. 'Til then, we'll catch you next time from Mark and Jere's house . . .
Greetings in our Lord Jesus,
Your Mexico Team
