June 10, 2004 - Out of the Frying Pan and into the Fire

Like all trips, it started early and boring. Let it be known that Pastor Jeff didn't fall asleep, he was testing how comfortable the seats in the van were. (Sure!) You wouldn't believe what I saw - okay, maybe you would - at one of the places we stopped (Burger King). There was a 1950/1960 red Chevrolet posing as a table! And I had my camera in my bag which was in the van!

The campsite is okay. It's got these huge rocks formations that are really fun to climb on. Lake Mead was definitely different than what I thought it would be. But they always are you know. While we played around at Lake Mead, 9 of us (including myself) got cut. Man, it's the first day and we're already breaking out the first aid kit! Now get this, Mark and Jesse are really good chefs (if I didn't spell that right, o well). They didn't kill us, we had shish kabobs - they were better than my dad's, (and that's sayin' something) no offense dad.

    Then for dessert, CAMPFIRE SMORES!

Then bed. I slept by the fire - though it wasn't needed. The stars are beautiful. No light to blur them, and man is that moon bright, it could be a sun itself. Though we've got a few bumps and bruises. God has really blessed this trip.
